A 22-year-old Indian postgraduate scholar who went lacking within the U.S. lower than per week in the past has been discovered useless, the Indian mission in New York has stated.

Saketh Sreenivasaiah, a scholar on the College of California, Berkeley, hailing from Karnataka, had been lacking since Monday (February 9, 2026).

In an X publish on Saturday (February 14, 2026) (native time), the Indian Consulate in San Francisco confirmed the restoration of his physique.

“The Consulate deeply regrets to tell that native police have confirmed the restoration of the physique of the lacking Indian scholar, Saketh Sreenivasaiah,” it stated.

Extending condolences to his family members, the Consulate stated it “stands prepared to supply all essential help to the household, together with coordination with native authorities and preparations for the repatriation of mortal stays to India on the earliest.” “Our consular officers are in direct contact with the household and can help them with all required formalities and providers,” it added.

Sreenivasaiah was enrolled within the Grasp of Science programme on the College of California, Berkeley.

His backpack, along with his passport and laptop computer, was discovered on a doorstep within the Park Hills neighbourhood, The Berkeley Scanner information portal had reported.

Earlier, native police had urged anybody with details about Sreenivasaiah to inform native legislation enforcement.
