Russia has fined the Telegram messaging app 35 million roubles ($4,32,366) for failing to take away banned content material, Russia’s Interfax information company reported on Monday (March 16, 2026).

Authorities have repeatedly accused Telegram, some of the common messaging apps in Russia, of permitting itself for use as a platform for unlawful and extremist content material.
Telegram rejects the cost and has accused Russia of making an attempt to throttle its companies in order to power folks to change to a state-run app referred to as MAX.
