Nearly three weeks of heavy snowfall have killed 46 folks and injured 558 others in Japan, recent information from the Hearth and Catastrophe Administration Company confirmed on Tuesday (February 10, 2026).
Continued snowfall since late January has buried northern communities and triggered visitors chaos, significantly alongside the coast going through the Sea of Japan.
Many deadly accidents occurred when mounds of snow fell on residents from roofs or folks tumbled whereas making an attempt to clear it, in keeping with police and native officers.
Within the northern regional hub of Aomori, residents are having to take care of 1.3 metres (greater than 4 ft) of snow on the bottom, in keeping with the Japan Meteorological Company.
