The U.S. army on Sunday (June 21, 2026) mentioned it struck a vessel within the Caribbean, killing two folks, alleging that the vessel was operated by “designated terrorist organisations” that it didn’t establish.
The U.S. Southern Command mentioned no U.S. army forces had been harmed within the operation. It described these killed as “male narco-terrorists,” with out elaborating.
That is the newest such assault condemned by rights teams as “extrajudicial killings” and which the Trump administration has mentioned are aimed at “narco-terrorists.”
There have been six male survivors following the motion, the U.S. Southern Command mentioned, including that it had notified the U.S. Coast Guard for the search and rescue of these survivors.
“Intelligence confirmed the vessel was transiting alongside identified narco-trafficking routes within the Caribbean and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations,” the army mentioned in a submit on X.
Using the army to assault suspected drug vessels represents a stark departure from how the U.S. has traditionally handled such vessels.
