Clashes between armed teams in Colombia kill a minimum of 52

At the very least 52 guerrilla fighters have been killed in clashes ‌between two rival armed teams vying for territorial ⁠management of a strategic cocaine manufacturing and trafficking area in southeastern Colombia, ‌a faction of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of ‌Colombia (FARC) concerned within the combating ‌mentioned ⁠in a press release on ⁠Thursday (Could 28, 2026).

The clashes, probably the most violent in current months, came about within the jungles of the ‌division of Guaviare, close to the village of Barranco Colorado.

Defence Minister Pedro Sanchez confirmed on ‌social media that there had been combating within the space, as did the ⁠Military, however neither supplied particulars on the dying toll. Mr. Sanchez ‌mentioned troops had been deployed to the realm to guard the civilian inhabitants.

Reuters was unable to independently confirm the 52 deaths reported by the ‌guerrilla group.

The combating came about between a dissident faction of the FARC led by Nestor ⁠Gregorio Vera, higher often called ⁠Ivan Mordisco, and one other led by Alexander Diaz Mendoza, ‌often called Calarca Cordoba.
