Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu mentioned on Thursday (April 9, 2026) that he has authorised direct negotiations with Lebanon “as quickly as potential,” as a tentative ceasefire within the Iran battle staggered beneath the burden of Israel’s bombardment of Beirut.
Mr. Netanyahu mentioned he gave the order in response to requests from Lebanon and that talks would concentrate on disarming Hezbollah and establishing peaceable relations between the neighbouring international locations. He welcomed a name by Lebanon’s prime minister to demilitarise Beirut.
