No less than 50 folks have died and 125 others are lacking after landslides hit three districts in southern Ethiopia following every week of heavy rains, an area official mentioned on Thursday (March 12, 2026).

The landslides occurred in Gamo Zone and affected the Gacho Baba District, Kamba District and Bonke District, in accordance with Gamo Zone director of catastrophe response Mesfin Manuqa.
