No less than 18 folks have been killed when a passenger bus fell into the Trishuli river close to Gajuri within the Dhading district of Nepal early morning on Monday (February 23, 2026).
Twenty-six passengers have been injured within the accident that occurred when the bus coming in the direction of Kathmandu from Pokhara plunged into the Trishuli river alongside the Prithvi Freeway, about 90 km west of Kathmandu at 1.30 a.m., in line with Bishnu Prasad Bhatta, spokesperson on the Armed Police Pressure.
Seventeen our bodies have been recovered from the accident website and 28 injured passengers have been rescued from the bus, in line with Mr. Bhatta. The injured passengers have been admitted to completely different hospitals for therapy. Nepal Military, Armed Police Pressure and Nepal Police personnel have been mobilised to hold out rescue work.
Amongst these killed within the accident, one male passenger is from New Zealand. One Japanese and a Dutch nationwide, each ladies, have been amongst these injured within the incident.
Though the precise cause of the accident couldn’t but been ascertained, the police stated that over rushing is likely to be the explanation behind the accident.
