Mr. Jarvis was a junior Minister for Safety throughout the House Workplace in embattled Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Labour authorities.
Mr. Healey’s shock resignation weakens Mr. Starmer’s authority per week earlier than a by-election that would immediate a bid to interchange the Prime Minister.
In stinging criticism, Mr. Healey warned that Mr. Starmer’s long-awaited Defence Funding Plan (DIP) for funding over the following decade — which the chief has but to publish — risked making Britain “much less protected”.
Hours later, Mr. Starmer wrote again to Mr. Healey saying his spending plans would permit the armed forces to rework and modernise, including: “I’ll all the time do what is required to maintain our nation protected.”
The defence plan has been repeatedly delayed however Mr. Starmer has insisted he’ll publish it earlier than a NATO summit in Turkey on July 7.
